Assertiveness Skills

For a complete list of workshops on offer and an explanation as to how the Emotometrics process works, click here.

Overview

Assertiveness is the ability to express one’s views, needs, concerns and even grudges in a direct, but polite and appropriate manner without hampering the relationship or violating the rights of the other person. Assertive behaviour also enables a person to protect one’s personal space and rights as a human being.

Assertiveness skills enhance interpersonal efficiency and improve one’s ability to establish rapport and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.

There is balance between lectures and practical sessions. The techniques are very structures and both written and practical sessions enable delegates to master the different techniques.

Who Should Attend?

People who exhibit submissive and pleasing behaviour will benefit from assertiveness training. Especially, if you find that you are often taken advantage of or manipulated by others. Anyone who has difficulty putting up boundaries or saying ‘no’.

However, people who tend to behave abrasively or aggressively also lack assertiveness skills. In spite of the fact that their intention is not to be bossy or overbearing, others my experience you as controlling and prescriptive.

It is also recommended for those whom Assertiveness Skills have been identified as a primary training need on completion of the Self-Awareness course.
