Overview
The concept of Locus of Control was introduced in the 1950’s by Julian Rotter. Since then the importance have been emphasised by psychologists and its impact on higher productivity levels and quality of life is today generally accepted.
A person with an internal locus of control believes that his success or failure is determined by his own personal decisions and efforts. A person with an external orientation believes that his behaviour success or failure is determined by fate, luck, other people or external circumstances.
Who Should Attend?
Any employee who feels that he is not fully in control of his own life. Anyone who feels overwhelmed by demands and who experiences victimisation. Employees who suffer from a negative self-image or excessive stress or anger. Individuals who have been identified with an external locus of control during the attendance of the first Module, Self-Awareness.
Specific Outcomes
The objective of this Module is to raise the individual’s level of awareness as far as his orientation (internal versus external) is concerned. In the case of an external orientation, guidelines, techniques and skills will be offered on how to develop an internal locus of control.
On completion of this training programme the delegates will be able to:
- Acquire a mindset change, from a victim to a victor consciousness.
- Develop the ability to put up boundaries – overcome the disease to please.
- Accept full responsibility for their own decisions, behaviour and emotions.
- Refrain from blaming others for their own failures, problems and poor decisions.
- Realise that they are the architects of their own lives.
- Become fully self-motivated, more pro-active and autonomous.
- Accept themselves unconditionally.
- Live more productive and meaningful lives.
